Friends of the Library

We need more Friends like you!

Quite simply, the Friends of the SSLDL is a group of people who love the library, and want to help support it and protect it. In 2010-2011, the Friends contributed more than $25,000 in gifts to the Library, which purchased exciting new materials, technologies and programs. Friends volunteers maintain the beautiful gardens, staff the Book Room, help organize fundraisers, and advocate for the Library in countless other valuable ways.

Joining the Friends is both a wonderful and effective way to support your Library. Membership is inexpensive, easy and truly makes a difference. And in Michigan’s difficult economic climate, libraries need their Friends now more than ever.

Friends of the Library Board

The Friends Board meets the second Thursday of every month at 7 p.m. in Study Room 4 at the SSLDL, and we would love to have you stop by, say hello, and offer any ideas or suggestions that would help us serve the Library even better. If you can’t make it to a meeting but still have feedback you’d like to share, please get in touch with any one of us—drop us a note or leave us a message at the Library (we have mailboxes behind the desk), contact us via email (see below) or send us a letter in care of the Library. We really want to hear from you!
